Explaining Extremes in a Changing Climate with Dr. Stephanie Herring In-Person
After an extreme event occurs we often hear people asking, "Did climate change do that?" - Scientists have a way of answering that question.
This talk will explore how climate change is impacting extreme events around the world, and explain how scientists know when climate change may, or may not, have played a role in altering the risk of a specific extreme event. It will also discuss new evidence that we are now seeing events that 'were not possible' without human influence on the climate.
Stephanie Herring is a scientist with NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information. She is also the lead editor of the annual “Explaining Extreme Events from a Climate Perspective” report.
